Heading

We solve serious noise problems using professional acoustic treatment, not basic insulation. Standard fiberglass insulation only reduces noise by 30-40%, which helps but doesn't eliminate the problem. Our soundproofing systems combine four acoustic principles to achieve 60-80% noise reduction (15-25 decibels quieter). The four principles are mass, damping, decoupling, and absorption. Mass means adding weight to walls or ceilings using double drywall or mass-loaded vinyl to block sound transmission. Damping uses special compounds between layers to convert sound energy into heat. Decoupling breaks the vibration path using resilient channels or staggered studs so sound can't transfer through solid connections. Absorption uses dense insulation to trap sound waves inside wall cavities.

We measure results using Sound Transmission Class ratings for airborne noise and Impact Insulation Class ratings for footstep noise. Our standard package achieves STC 45-52, making rooms 50% quieter and blocking normal conversation through walls. Our premium package reaches STC 55-60, making rooms 75% quieter and blocking loud music or TV.

Most soundproofing projects take two to five days depending on room size and whether we're treating walls, ceilings, or both. You'll need to vacate the room being treated but can stay in the rest of your home. We handle walls between rooms or apartments, ceiling and floor assemblies for footstep noise, window and door upgrades, and entire home theater or music studio builds.

Our work includes removing existing drywall if needed, installing acoustic insulation, adding resilient channels or clips for decoupling, installing first layer of drywall, applying damping compound, installing second layer of drywall offset from first, sealing all penetrations with acoustic caulk, and finishing with tape, texture, and paint-ready surface.

The cost runs eight to fifteen dollars per square foot for standard soundproofing achieving STC 45-52, or fifteen to twenty-five dollars per square foot for premium treatment reaching STC 55-60. A typical bedroom costs thirty-five hundred to sixty-five hundred dollars for walls and ceiling. These prices include all materials, labor, and finishing but not final paint.
